Municipal Election 2010 ü

2010 is a regular Municipal Election year in the Province of Ontario. Nominations for council positions within the wards of Ashfield, Colborne & Wawanosh must be received by 2:00 p.m. September 10, 2010 at the Municipal Office. Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Office. Election Day will be Monday, October 25, 2010. We will again, be utilizing a Vote By Mail system. All election related notices will be posted in the three local newspapers, the Goderich Signal Star, Lucknow Sentinel and Blyth Citizen. NOTICE OF NOMINATION

NOTICE is hereby given to the
Municipal Electors of the
Corporation of the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh

Nominations in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh for the offices of:

            Reeve – election at large                       (one position to be filled)
            Councillors – Ashfield Ward                  (two positions to be filled)
            Councillors – Colborne Ward                 (two positions to be filled)
            Councillors – Wawanosh Ward             (two positions to be filled)

Nominations may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk, nomination papers on the prescribed form. Such nomination papers must be accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the position of Reeve and $100.00 for the position of Councillor. The filing fee shall be paid in cash, certified cheque or money order made payable to the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. A proposed candidate must produce identification when filing a nomination.

A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours between January 4, 2010 and September 9, 2010, and between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 10, 2010 (Nomination Day).

No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes; or incur expenses, until that person’s nomination has been filed. A nomination must be certified by the Clerk, or designate, before such person becomes a certified candidate for the office for which she or he is nominated.

In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed in the office of the Clerk.

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill said offices, an election will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Information pertaining to the Municipal Election in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will be posted throughout the year on the Township’s website www.acwtownship.ca or may be obtained by contacting the Municipal Office at:
